Cessna’s CitationJet was planned as a replacement for the Citation 500 whose production had completed in 1985. Essentially a new design the CitationJet nevertheless utilised a modified and shortened version of the Citation 500 forward fuselage. The new design incorporated a supercritical laminar flow wing and a new T-tail configuration and FJ44 emgines. Despite its shortened fuselage the CitationJet is able to provide for a 9 passenger layout.
