The Citation II (Model 550) is a development of the original Citation I. By stretching the Cessna Citation I fuselage Cessna were able to offer a variable cabin layout capable of facilitating 7-10 passengers. The first series revamp (aside from the Single Passenger 551 Citation II/SP) was the Citation S/II introduced in1984, this incorporated the improved P & W JT15D-4B engine and aerodynamic modifications. The Cessna Bravo was to be the replacement of the Citation II. Whilst using the same basic airframe developed 30 years previously with the Citation I, the new aircraft would feature Pratt & Whitney Canada PW530A engines and incorporate the modified trailing link landing gear which was being used on other Citation products.
